KPK Alleges Former Makassar Customs Head Provided Inappropriate Recommendations To Get Fee

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) suspects that the former Head of Makassar Customs Andhi Pramono deliberately gave customs recommendations that deviated from customs to several parties. This allegation was examined by 10 witnesses.

"The witnesses were present and studied for their knowledge, among other things related to the suspect AP's activities while on duty at Batam Customs and were suspected of actively providing recommendations that deviated from customs regulations," said Head of KPK Reporting Section Ali Fikri in a written statement, Friday, July 14.

The ten witnesses are four private employees Tamri, Ciwi Hartono, Masrayani, and Susanti, three entrepreneurs Edison Alva, Aprianto, and Niaty Indya Ida Putri, two Notaries Tiurlan Sihaloho and Anly Cenggana, and PT Megah Menorah Indonesia Director Willy.

The KPK has not yet specified the deviant recommendations made by Andhi. However, he allegedly did it in order to gain profit in the form of a fee to buy what he wanted.

"Based on this recommendation, then the suspect AP received a fee of money and bought several assets of economic value," he said.

As previously reported, the KPK had detained the former Head of Makassar Customs Andhi Pramono. He is suspected of receiving gratuities in the form of fees after becoming a broker for export-import entrepreneurs.

To make this acceptance, Andhi allegedly used an account belonging to a confidant who is a businessman. They become nominees so that their gifts are not detected.

It didn't stop there, Andhi was also suspected of committing a crime of money laundering (TPPU). This suspicion arose because he disguised the purchase of assets by using other people's names, including his mother-in-law.

Andhi said the KPK received fees of up to IDR 28 billion and the amount could continue to grow. The money was then used to buy various needs, such as diamonds, insurance policies, and a house in the Pejaten area, South Jakarta, worth IDR 20 billion.
