Bawaslu Invite The Public To Report If It Is Disturbed By Political Party Ads

JAKARTA - The Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) invites the public to submit reports if they feel disturbed by advertisements for political parties participating in the 2024 General Election on social media with campaign nuances.

"If there are people who, for example, feel restless with this (advertising political parties), do not rule out the possibility of the community, please make it an initial information for Bawaslu," said a member of Bawaslu Puadi as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, July 11.

Puadi explained that because currently the campaign period for 2024 election participants has not yet begun, there are several sanctions that can ensnare political parties that have started campaigning, as stipulated in Article 74 of KPU Regulation (PKPU) Number 33 of 2018 concerning General Election Campaigns.

The article regulates a number of sanctions that can be imposed on political parties that violate the ban on campaigning regulations before the campaign start is written warnings, reductions or cleaning of campaign materials or campaign props, and/or termination of campaign advertisements in print media, electronic media, online media, social media, and broadcasters.

The 2024 election campaign period that has been regulated by the Indonesian KPU in PKPU Number 3 of 2022 concerning Stages and Schedules for the 2024 General Election is from November 28, 2023 to February 10, 2024.

Before the campaign period began, Puadi said that his party was committed to intensifying prevention and socialization so that political parties participating in the 2024 General Election would not campaign when the campaign period had not yet started.

"We mostly make appeals to prevent (election violations)," he said.

In the 2024 election, there were 18 political parties participating in the election. They are the National Awakening Party (PKB), the Greater Indonesia Movement Party (Gerindra), the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), the Golkar Party (Golkar), the National Democratic Party (Nasdem), the Labor Party, the Indonesian People's Wave Party (Gelora), the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), and the National Awakening Party (PKN).

Next, the People's Conscience Party (Hanura), the Indonesian Movement Change Party (Garuda), the National Mandate Party (PAN), the Crescent Star Party (PBB), the Democratic Party, the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI), the Indonesian Unity Party (Perindo), the United Development Party (PPP), and the Ummat Party.
