Heru Budi Asks Bekasi, Depok, And Tangerang To Help Reduce Jakarta Congestion

JAKARTA - Acting (Pj) Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono asked the governments of buffer areas such as Bekasi, Depok, and Tangerang to help reduce congestion in Jakarta. Remember, millions of residents who use private vehicles and public transportation from the buffer areas enter Jakarta every day. Heru conveyed this in a focus group discussion (FGD) regarding the plan to arrange working hours in Jakarta which was attended by the ranks of the DKI Forkopimda, academics, as well as relevant stakeholders. "The DKI Regional Government wants to resolve this problem gradually. It cannot be completed tomorrow morning, traffic is not jammed, it cannot. But Bekasi, Depok, Tangerang, let us both be able to solve it. At least reduce it," said Heru at the Borobudur Hotel, Central Jakarta, Thursday, July 11. Heru also mentioned that the DKI Provincial Government already has a policy to reduce the traffic density both from the buffer zone to Jakarta and vice versa. One of them is the provision of Transjakarta services with the Kalideres Terminal route in West Jakarta to Soekarno Hatta Airport in Tangerang. Then, the DKI Provincial Government also provides transportation services at the Jakarta border point with Bekasi which has a high crowd level. "So in Bogor Transportation Service with us, certain points and hours of a certain day we pick up to the crowd point position, so that vehicles entering Jakarta can be reduced. That the DKI Regional Government is trying continuously to overcome congestion," explained Heru. However, Heru realized that the plan to arrange working hours cannot be implemented. This is because there needs to be a mature regulatory mechanism because this can have an impact on the swelling of operational costs of office buildings that are forced to operate longer. "This depends on all of you. Let's give input, especially associations or owners of buildings, managers, and ministries to be able to discuss," explained Heru.
