PJ Governor Of DKI Says Official Electric Car Has Entered Procurement Process

JAKARTA - The Provincial Government (Pemprov) of DKI Jakarta is currently processing the realization of the procurement of environmentally friendly vehicles for official operations, as an effort to improve Jakarta's air quality, as well as to accelerate the implementation of the use of Battery-Based Electric Motor Vehicles (KBLBB).

"It is in the process of procuring according to the plan in the RPD (Regional Development Plan). In the near future, the realization of renewable energy-based vehicles will be carried out," said Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono as quoted by Antara, Sunday.

Currently, said Heru, public transportation such as buses in DKI Jakarta have partially used fuel and electric buses (electric).

Heru said that the use of electric vehicles in DKI Jakarta is not only to support national programs, but also to reduce the burden of using fossil fuel fuels (BBM), and reduce carbon emissions.

"Especially for the fuel expenditure budget for official cars, it will be more economical. So, in the future only heavy equipment (backhoe) and others will still consume fuel," said Heru.

Furthermore, Heru appealed to the people of DKI not to hesitate to use electrified vehicles, either to use public transportation or to convert conventional motors to electric driving.

Heru believes that this appeal is very good for the progress of Jakarta so that it gets support from the people of DKI.

"I am sure that in the not too distant future all two-wheeled vehicles in DKI, both belonging to the provincial government and the community, will switch to electric motors. We are still thinking about incentive programs to accelerate that direction," explained Heru.

Furthermore, Heru admitted that he used a Toyota Kijang Innova Zenix Hybrid as an official vehicle. Heru only received the car after nine months as Acting Governor.

The combined oil and electric fuel (BBM) powered car has been used by Heru in carrying out his activities as Acting Governor. Heru admitted that the use of car vehicles with fuel oil or electric cars has the same comfort.

"It's only been a week since we used a Hybrid car. During the ASEAN Summit, we often used electric cars for the transportation of delegates. I feel as comfortable as ordinary fuel vehicles," said Heru.
