For The U-17 World Cup, Heru Budi Calls Parking And Road Access At JIS Will Be Added

JAKARTA - Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono said parking bags at the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) would be added. Currently, JIS only has a parking capacity of around 1,200 vehicles. Meanwhile, the stadium has a capacity of 82,000 spectators.

The infrastructure problem at JIS is again a concern because Indonesia will host the U-17 World Cup. Heru seems to want the World Cup to continue to be held in Jakarta even though the Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK) cannot be used later. JIS is also an option for a replacement venue.

"Yes, later (parking capacity) will be added. It will be a ninjau first," said Heru when met at the National Monument area, Sunday, July 2.

In addition, Heru said that the repair of JIS access would also be carried out by adding new roads as access to exit. So far, the access in and out of JIS that has been opened only passes Jalan Sunter Permai Raya.

"Later, we will make an exit route to the side of the Ketel Bridge," he said.

Given that JIS has come to the attention of the central government, Heru admitted that he and the relevant ministers will review JIS with the ministers to see firsthand the plan to improve access to Anies Baswedan's stadium while serving as Governor of Jakarta for the 2017-2022 period.

"Later, I want to field with several ministers. Wait for the Minister of SOEs (Erick Thohir)," he said.

Indonesia has been designated as the host of the U-17 World Cup which will be held from November 10 to December 2 this year. However, at the same time, Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium has been scheduled to be the location for the Coldplay concert, to be precise on November 15, 2023.

President Joko Widodo said the location for the 2023 U-17 World Cup football could be held in other locations because the Indonesian stadium is not only in GBK. Jokowi also revealed the implementation of the 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup.

Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono conveyed a number of crucial things related to the General Chairperson (Ketum) of the All-Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) Erick Thohir regarding the readiness and evaluation of JIS for the U-17 World Cup on November 10 to December 2, 2023.

According to Basuki, the crucial thing related to the JIS stadium is access and parking. The experience of the Dewa 19 music concert at JIS previously showed concert audiences experiencing difficulties when they returned from JIS.

The Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Dito Ariotedjo said the plan to fix the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) would use a budget from the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government. Meanwhile, the central government is only limited to maintaining technical attention.

"For a temporary JIS from DKI. We just need technical assistance," he said.
