BANJARMASIN - For almost a week the safe from the Al Mubarak Cooperative was burglarized on Monday (21/6) night when it was empty without guard. The loss of Al Mubarak Cooperative on Jalan Brigadier General Hasan Basry Banjarmasin Utara reached Rp112 million.

The joint team of the Banjarmasin Police Tigers together with the South Kalimantan Police Resmob (Kalsel) have now managed to catch the culprit.

"The suspect with the initials MR (31) was arrested at his hiding place at Simpang 4 Jalan Geriyla South Banjarmasin on Tuesday (27/6) night," said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Banjarmasin Police, Kompol Thomas Afrian in Banjarmasin, Wednesday, quoted by ANTARA, June 28.

MR was hunted for almost a week after the incident. The police who collected evidence and testimony from witnesses including surveillance camera (CCTV) footage around the location finally managed to identify the perpetrator.

The evidence confiscated from the perpetrators was a motorcycle used during the action and the clothes he was wearing.

"The suspect admitted his actions and made mistakes because he was in debt due to using customer money (loans)," explained Thomas.

From the suspect's confession, he has acted seven times, including breaking into empty houses in Tapin Regency Rp. 125 million, the Hambaling Hulu Sungai Tengah Beach Post Office was stolen Rp. 4 million, the Binuang Karang Putih Office, Tapin Regency, without any results because only the safe contained the file was carried.

Then the Souvenir By-Oleh Martapura shop which failed because it was caught by night guards, roadside houses in Binuang, Tapin also failed, including a roadside house in Barabai, HST also failed.

For the success of the disclosure, the Banjarmasin Police Chief Kombes Pol Sabana Atmojo expressed his appreciation for the performance of its members.

"Of course this is a lesson for all parties not to leave a place where a lot of money is empty, especially since there is no CCTV like the Al Mubarak Cooperative," the Police Chief reminded.
