SEMARANG - Police arrested a former village head in Magelang, Central Java, who is suspected of being involved in a criminal act of trafficking in persons (TPPO) who illegally sent migrant workers abroad.

Director of the General Criminal Investigation of the Central Java Police, Kombes Pol.Johanson Simamora, said that SD (57) was arrested while running away to Bali.

"The person concerned has served as village head in Magelang," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, June 19.

From the initial examination, he said, the perpetrator admitted that he had received an order from someone to flee to Bali.

"Someone is told not to appear, later two or three months it will be calm to be back," he added.

SD itself, he continued, is tasked with recruiting prospective workers in his area.
