Social Minister Targets Extreme Poverty To Be Completed By 2024

JAKARTA - Minister of Social Affairs (Mensos) Tri Rismaharini targets the extreme poverty rate to be completed to zero percent by 2024.

"According to the RPJMN target and President Jokowi's direction, we are asked to solve extreme poverty by 2024," he said at a press conference in Jakarta as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, June 13.

Currently, his party is trying to get to zero percent extreme poverty. The poverty rate is currently 1.74 percent or around 5.5 million people.

In his efforts to solve extreme poverty, he mentioned a number of programs, such as food for the elderly, food for the disabled, assistance for orphans (YAPI), Integrated Prosperous Houses (RST), and Indonesian Economic Heroes (PENA), and the target was updated.

In 2023, there will be at least 100,000 food recipients, 33,775 food recipients with disabilities, 378,745 YAPI recipients, 595 RST recipient families, and 7,500 PENA recipients.

"Since November 2022 until now, around 2,700 beneficiaries of the 2022 PENA have been completed because the economy is improving, this is a good sign," said the former Surabaya Mayor.

However, Social Minister Risma admitted that she had difficulty collecting data on potential beneficiaries.

In managing special funds to solve extreme poverty, his party needs a long time related to the implementation of the assessment of potential beneficiaries so that all assistance can reach the beneficiaries.

"Because it took a long time, we were able to show the condition of the beneficiary, we know all his name, address, and type of assistance," he said.

Therefore, he hopes that all problems related to the budget for related parties can be resolved immediately, considering that assistance must be addressed immediately.
