Police Arrest Woman Killer Wrapped In Plastic In Bandung, The Perpetrator Turns Out To Be The Victim's Husband

The Bandung Police Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) arrested the killer of a woman named Ema Purnama (42) whose body was wrapped in plastic when she was found in a rented room in the Cijerah area, Bandung City, West Java.

Bandung Police Chief Kombes Pol Budi Sartono said the identity of the perpetrator was the husband of the victim himself with the initials AN (51) who was arrested on Sunday, June 11, after escaping to Muaro Jambi Regency, Jambi Province.

"The crime scene (the crime scene) by the Bandung Police Inafis ranks, finally we narrowed it to one of the suspects on behalf of AN who is the victim's husband," Budi said during a press conference at the Bandung Police Headquarters, quoted by ANTARA, Monday 12 June.

Meanwhile, according to him, Ema's body was found on Wednesday (7/6) and had shocked the surrounding community. However, he said, Ema's murder was carried out by her husband on Monday (5/6) morning, around 07.00 WIB.

He explained that the chronology of the murder began with AN asking Ema to come to her rented house in the Cijerah area on Sunday, June 4, where the husband and wife are in the process of divorce.

However, he said, Ema had just come to AN's rented house on Monday (5/6) morning. At that time, AN invited Ema to reconcile, but was refused until AN admitted that he was hurt by the refusal.

"And the suspect also asked for Rp27 million because the suspect said he had helped renovate the victim's rented house, and the victim did not want to hand it over because he thought it was not his responsibility," said Budi.

After the rejection, AN then abused his wife. After being helpless, Ema's neck was wrapped in a sarong until she died.

After his wife died, according to Budi, AN took the victim's money and motorbike to go out of the rented house to buy large plastic. Then AN returned to his rented house to wrap Ema's body in a blanket cloth and coated with plastic.

Two days later on Wednesday (7/6), according to him, the discovery of Ema's body wrapped in plastic began with a number of residents who smelled an unpleasant odor while passing in front of the perpetrator's rented house. Then the police went to the location and evacuated the body to Bhayangkara Sartika Asih Hospital.

"The perpetrator fled to the Jambi area to work, there the perpetrator was also arrested while working there," he said.

Budi said that his party had also confiscated a number of evidences, including duct tape, plastic sacks, and a Yamaha NMax motorcycle.

For his actions, according to him, suspect AN was charged with Article 338 of the Criminal Code with a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison.
