ACEH - Investigators from the Bireuen District Attorney's Office, Aceh, examined two former members of the Bireuen Regency House of Representatives (DPRK) related to the investigation into alleged corruption in capital investment at the Sharia People's Credit Bank (BPRS).
Head of the Bireuen Kejari Munawal Hadi said the two former council members examined had the initials RM and AMS.
"Both of them were examined as witnesses. RM and AMS were asked for information regarding the budgeting process for capital participation in the BPRS of Juang City, Bireuen Regency, 2019 and 2021 budget years," said Munawal Hadi when contacted from Banda Aceh, Antara, Tuesday, May 30.
Munawal Hadi said RM was the chairman of the Bireuen DPRK Budget Agency in 2018, while AMS served as Deputy Chair of the Bireuen DPRK Budget Agency in the same period.
"Investigators will examine several witnesses from the other Bireuen DPRK Budget Agency to gather information and strengthen evidence before determining the suspect," said Munawal Hadi.
Munawal Hadi said the investigation into alleged corruption in the BPRS capital participation had been increased to the investigation stage. However, investigators have not yet determined who is the suspect.
The former Head of the Administration Section of the Jambi High Prosecutor's Office said that the examination of witnesses was to complete the case file and strengthen evidence so that the case became clear.
"Until now, investigators have examined two dozens of witnesses, including the former Regent of Bireuen. The examination of witnesses will continue in order to strengthen allegations of corruption," said Munawal Hadi.
Previously, the Bireuen Regency Government allocated capital participation funds at the Juang City BPRS in the 2019 budget year amounting to Rp1 billion and the 2021 budget year Rp500 million.
Based on the results of the investigation and investigation, said Munawal, it is suspected that there was a game from the beginning to the implementation of capital participation in the bank so that it should be suspected that it caused state losses.
"In addition, it was found in the administrative irregular capital participation process. Where there should be some letters that must be fulfilled, but these conditions have never been met," he said.
According to Munawal Hadi, the conditions that were not met ranged from the compiler to the implementation of the budget. In the implementation of the budget by BPRS, it does not apply the principle of prudence, such as financing which causes the bank to suffer losses.
"The regional government's capital participation fund is state money that should be managed with the precautionary principle. In its management, investigators find that the state money is intended not according to the mechanism," said Munawal Hadi.
