JAKARTA - The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) has sealed 1,130 boxes of imported fish that do not match the designation or the equivalent of 11.3 tons of frozen fish imported by salmon (Frozen Pacific Mackarel) in three warehouses in Palembang, South Sumatra (Sumsel).
This sealing is a follow-up carried out by the KKP on reports of indications of alleged violations of imported fish circulation that should have been intended for the indexing industry in local markets in Palembang.
"The report we received from the Batam PSDKP Base Fisheries Supervisory team, has been sealed by installing a Fishery Supervisory Line on 1,130 fish boxes in three separate warehouses this afternoon (Monday, 29/5). The total weight of the sealed fish reached 11.3 tons," said Director General of Marine and Fishery Resources Supervision (PSDKP) Adin Nurawaluddin as reported by ANTARA, Monday, May 29.
Based on the investigation, he said again, it is known that the imported fish are sold in retail in markets in Palembang at a price of Rp. 17,000-18,000 per kg. This price is much cheaper than the selling price of local fishermen which ranges from Rp. 24,000 to Rp. 26,000 per kg.
The owners of the imported fish Management Unit (UPI) were purchased through brokers and sent around mid-April and May from Muara Baru and Muara Angke, Jakarta using a Thermocking car.
