SURABAYA - Deputy Mayor of Surabaya Armujimediated 30 publishers with one of the big bookstores in Kota Pahlawan, East Java, about the arrears that had not been paid.

"After receiving complaints from the publishers, we immediately followed up," said Armuji as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, May 26.

According to him, the complaints from the 30 publishers were submitted by the Surabaya and National Publishers Association through the Aspiration House of the Deputy Mayor of Surabaya on Thursday (25/5).

Finding this, Cak Ji, Armuji's nickname, immediately went to Petra PPPK Dapen office as a shareholder of 70 percent of one of the bookstores located at Jalan Kertajaya Indah Tengah, Manyar Sabrangan, Mulyorejo District, Surabaya.

On that occasion, he said, it was stated that the publisher collected debts at the bookstore on the orders of PPPK pension funds.

However, the shop has been closed operations since August 2022 and employees have been laid off.

"We hope to find the best solution for both parties so that no one feels disadvantaged," said Cak Ji.

Cak Ji said that his party will mediate again next week by presenting parties related to publishers, bookstores, Dapen PPPK Petra and the Financial Services Authority.

"We all take care of each other so that in the city of Surabaya we can provide a good business space for everyone. So it is hoped that this incident will not set a bad precedent in the future," said Cak Ji.

Cak Ji explained that later he was directed to find a joint agreement for the publisher's payment at the upcoming meeting.

He also thanked the publisher for reporting complaints through the aspirations house so that it could be followed up quickly.
