JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has finished examining the President Director of PT Santos Jaya Abadi Kopi Kapal Api, Soedomo Mergonoto. He was examined as a witness to the alleged receipt of gratuities that ensnared former Sidoarjo Regent Saiful Ilah.

"The investigative team has finished examining witness Soedomo Mergonoto," said Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri to reporters, Tuesday, May 23.

Ali said Soedomo was asked a number of questions by investigators. Including the alleged flow of money received by Saiful Ilah in foreign currency.

"His knowledge was explored, among others, related to the alleged flow of money received by the SI suspect from several parties in foreign currency," he said.

Ali did not specify how much the money was. However, the statement from the boss of Kopi Kapal Api is believed to have made light of the case that ensnared Saiful Ilah.

The KPK previously again named Saiful as a suspect in the alleged receipt of gratuities. Even though he just breathed free air from the Class I Surabaya Prison in Porong, Sidoarjo in January 2022.

"The investigative team detained the suspect SI for the first 20 days," said KPK Deputy Chair Alexander Marwata at a press conference at the KPK's Red and White building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Tuesday, March 7.

Meanwhile, the goods received consisted of precious metal weighing 15 grams, luxury watches, bags, and cell phones. "The amount of gratuities received is around Rp. 15 billion," said Alexander.
