SEMARANG Central Java Regional Police (Polda) and the police-polres ranks have deployed a total of 1,037 personnel to secure the 2024 General Election stage, today Friday, May 12.

"The location is 36 out of 35 satwil (regional units) in the ranks of the Central Java Police," said Head of Public Relations of the Central Java Police, Kombes M. Iqbal Alqudusy in his statement.

Among the security activities for this stage of the election; in the Semarang Polrestabes area there are 2 locations, namely the Central Java General Election Commission (KPU) Office and the Semarang City KPU. In the 2 locations, a total of 143 personnel were deployed.

Security targets include; KPU commissioners, KPU employees, KPU buildings, motorized vehicles at the KPU office, registration files for prospective legislative candidates (bacaleg), submission activities for babileg to chairman and administrators of political parties and supporters.

"Several KPU offices have received registrations for legislative candidates since last Thursday, security has been carried out by the local police. Today (Friday) security is also held in 5 regencies and 1 city," he added.

The Central Java Regional Police, said Iqbal, also emphasized that all Polri personnel in the ranks of the Central Java Regional Police and Satwil should not carelessly upload photos with balaleg or political figures on social media (medsos).

This is to maintain the neutrality of the National Police at every stage of the simultaneous elections and regional elections in 2024.

"This is in line with the direction of the National Police Chief and the Central Java Police Chief so that all Polri personnel maintain a neutral attitude in guarding the General Election (Pemilu) and the 2024 simultaneous regional elections," he said.

The presence of the National Police in every stage of the election, explained Iqbal, is only limited to carrying out security based on a task order. Documentation is only limited to the need for reports on the results of the implementation of activities for each leader, not to be published on personal social media.

"Every violation of members of the National Police who are suspected of doing things that lead to an neutrality in the Election event will be strictly punished, starting from disciplinary punishment and the Police code of ethics," he said.
