JAKARTA - South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol today lifted all restrictions related to COVID-19, including mandatory self-isolation which automoatis stated the disease was categorized as endemic.
In a COVID-19 response meeting, Yoon arranged a mandatory seven-day quarantine for COVID-19 patients to be reduced to five days.
As reported by ANTARA, Thursday, May 11, the President of South Korea also stated that he was obliged to wear an indoor mask to be lifted in all places except for hospitals with inpatient rooms. Yoon also revoked the mandatory PCR test rules for those who came to South Korea.
The decision to revoke almost all regulations related to COVID-19 has been running since June 1 when the national level of the COVID-19 crisis is lowered from "serious" to "alert".
"I am happy that our people have their daily lives again after three years and four months of being limited," Yoon said at a meeting of the Head Office for Disaster Management and Safety at the country's presidential office.
"This can happen because of the dedication and efforts of many people," he said, while thanking frontline medical staff, health industry workers, and government officials.
"More than that, I am very grateful to our people for their active cooperation in complying with antiviral rules."

Yoon's announcement comes days after the World Health Organization (WHO) ended COVID-19 status as a "global health emergency."
