BNN Malut Dismantles Drug Trafficking Network From Jakarta, Methamphetamine Is Sent Via Clothing Packages

TERNATE - The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) of North Maluku Province (Malut) succeeded in uncovering a case of narcotics trafficking of class one type methamphetamine which is a circulating network from Jakarta City with suspect AMK alias Fandi (30).

"After AMK was secured, BNN million made efforts to eradicate narcotics and precursors of narcotics and arrested the next suspect whose name was Y alias Cube aged 38 years as a resident of the Jambula Class II Detention Center," said Head of BNNP North Maluku, Brigadier General Pol DR Agus Rohmat, quoted by ANTARA, Thursday 6 April.

Agus Rohmat explained that the chronology of the arrests began with public information last Wednesday, the delivery of narcotics through a delivery service to Ternate City, based on this information, the North Maluku BNNP Eradication Team conducted surveillance.

Furthermore, the Eradication Team monitored the perpetrator's activities from 10.00 WIT to 13.00 WIT then the perpetrator moved to the Ninja Express Expedition Office, Batu Antero Village, Central Ternate District, Ternate City to pick up packages suspected of being narcotics.

When the suspect arrived at the location at around 13.53 WIT, the Eradication Team was already on standby, after the perpetrator received a package from an expedition courier and had signed proof of receipt and then he left the expedition office and was then secured by the Eradication Team.

When the perpetrator was arrested, the perpetrator resisted and tried to escape but was arrested by the Eradication Team and then the suspect and evidence were secured to the North Maluku BNN office.

He stated that the suspect was asked to open the package received in the form of narcotics class one type methamphetamine, then a balance was carried out weighing 49.31 grams, then investigators detected it using a trunartic device resulting from methamphetamine, then the suspect was tested for urine with a negative result.

The Eradication Team also searched the perpetrator's house and found small scales in his room.

From these arrests, North Maluku Province BNN officers managed to confiscate a plastic package containing narcotics crystal grains weighing 49.31 kgrams and evidence of non-narcotics one unit of Daihatsu rocky car with a yellow DG 1901 KI number, one iPhone 10 cellphone unit, one black jacket, one red flower motif and plastic wrap with red package number NVIDNIJA 00270597.

"From the arrest, AMK alias Fandi is suspected of possessing, storing, controlling narcotics class one type of methamphetamine with the article applied, Article 112 Paragraph 2 jo. Article 132 of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics. Thus, the criminal threat to the suspect is imprisonment of at least five years to 20 years," he said.

Meanwhile, Y alias Cube in terms of the act of offering to sell, sell, buy, become an intermediary in buying and selling, exchanging, handing over or receiving narcotics class one type methamphetamine with the article applied, Article 114 Paragraph 2 of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics.

"Thus, the criminal threat to the suspect is the death penalty or life imprisonment," he said.
