JABAR - The Depok City Government (Pemkot) responded to President Joko Widodo's (Jokowi) policy to prohibit officials and state civil servants (ASN) from breaking the fast together, aka bukber during Ramadan 2023.

The regulation is contained in the Circular (SE) of the Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) regarding the Prohibition of Joint Opening for Officials and ASN. However, the SE has not yet formally reached the Depok City Government.

"Just to remind, in this fasting month there is a circular submitted by the ministry, although we have not physically received it, but it has gone viral on social media, we are waiting physically," said Depok Mayor Mohammad Idris in Depok, Monday, March 27, quoted by Antara.

Idris hopes that the Depok City Government ASN will not highlight the culture of spree. For example, showing off worship or doing excessive activities is videoed and then uploaded on social media.

He warned that these patterns were being highlighted by the highest leadership in the scope of ASN. "Therefore, show that we can live modestly as ASN within the Depok City Government," he added.

Idris explained that the ban on bukber does not apply to the general public. Therefore, officials or ASN who are invited to the joint boarding school held by residents, Idrus invites them to attend.

"For example, when I was called by my residents, I was asked to stop by to break the fast together, that's his name I didn't hold it, but I was invited to eat together," he said.

"It's also the same tarling (tarawih around) that we hold is the tarling, the other is community affairs," he said.
