JAKARTA - Halestrom's vocalist, Lzzy Hale, admitted in an interview with Riff XS's "Metal XS" that he deliberately used his sexuality at the start of Halestorm's career to gain more media coverage.
The vocalist once appeared on the cover of 2009's "Hottest Chicks In Metal" magazine and was named the "the hottest girl in hard rock and metal" by readers of the magazine. It could not be separated from the effort to look sexy.
"A year ago, when we first started the tour and you tried to get yourself into the magazine and get the attention for this or that, I got involved in a lot of things where... feel a little left out because I've never really opened up everything, know?" said Hale.
"So I'll be like in Revolver magazine for 'Hottest Chicks In Metal' or whatever and be like the only one who is fully dressed. [Obviously] But, yes, you have to do it because if it's a publication, you want attention to your band and you want to talk about music and everything," he continued.
"But, yeah, we've been really sexually assaulted for years. I think for me, you're a bit reverse it and in what you say in your song and you can always laugh last. But that's definitely changing. And just a few years ago I was probably the only girl at one of these festivals, and it didn't happen again. So I'm very proud of that and it's amazing to see all my sister's success."
