JAKARTA - Fall Out Boy celebrated 20 years of the birth of their debut album, Take This To Your Grave. They described it as "a lightning strike accident from an album that really changed my life".
The US pop-punk band manned by Pete Wentz, Andy banyak, Patrick Stump, and Joseph Trohman released their debut album on May 6, 2003, two years after they formed on the outskirts of Chicago.
About 21 or more years ago, when I applied to college which I would never have entered, Fall Out Boy started as a small pop punk side project from what we considered a more serious Pete band, Arma Angelus, "Stump posted to Fall Out Boy social media last week.
"We were careless and we couldn't strengthen the ranks, but the three of us (Pete, Joe, and I) had too much fun to give up."
He explained that they were "very rude", adding: "For example how rude it is, one of my favorite teachers pulled me aside after hearing the recording that would be an Evening Out With Your Girlfriend, and wisely said" What do you think is your best instrument Patrick? Drum. This is a drum. Maybe not singing Patrick.
We went to Smart Studios with Sean O'Keefe... So that's how it is, 3/5 of a band with a singer who has only been singing for a year, without drummers, and one of two guitarists. But we had the opportunity to record with Sean and record at the legendary studio Butch Vig."

He continued, about eight months later, the record label Fueled By Ramen gave them a contract to record the remaining songs. We will sleep on the floor, eat nothing but peanut butter and jelly, stay in the van for the next 3 years, and even so end up playing with Elton John and Taylor Swift and Jay-Z and for President Obama and for the NFC championship, and all this much unexpected and unlikely.
"But it's never going to happen if Andy doesn't come to the session and Joe doesn't drag us into a band."
They concluded: "Happy 20th Birthday Take This To Your Grave, you had a strange and brilliant lightning strike from an album that really changed my life."
