PT Chery Sales Indonesia (PT CSI) confirmed that it will carry its pure electric car, namely Omoda 5 BEV at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2023 exhibition on August 10-20.
Rifkie Setiawan, the Head of Public Relations of PT CSI, said that they are currently compiling several products that will be displayed and are currently still in the discussion stage with the top management.
"For the line-up at GIIAS later, there has been no final decision. However, we will definitely show off Omoda BEV, possibly in the right steering version," said Rifkie, reported by ANTARA on Monday, June 12.
He also stated that with the presence of Omoda 5 BEV at this exhibition, Chery wanted to give their customers the option by launching and introducing the car to the public.
In terms of prices, it seems that Chery is very careful in determining the price of Omoda 5 BEV. There are many factors that are considered. Therefore, the electric car that will be launched will not be sold immediately. But it will go through the market test process first.
"The plan is that we will also conduct domestic assembly (CKD) for the Omoda BEV, so we are still calculating the price structure," added Rifkie.
Rifkie also revealed that currently they have not received an order (indent) for the Omoda 5 BEV because they want to see market developments and public enthusiasm. What's more, this car was only introduced in Indonesia.
"We will see how enthusiastic the market is at Omoda BEV. If the enthusiasm is high, there will likely be an opportunity for that," explained Rifkie.
Chery Omoda 5 BEV offers impressive performance. The SUV, which will compete with Hyundai Ioniq 5 in Indonesia, is equipped with a battery with a capacity of 61 kWh and an electric motor with 220 dk.
