JAKARTA - An automotive manufacturer from Vietnam, VinFast announced a recall of one of the electric SUVs, VF8, which was recently shipped to the United States. Reporting from Inside EV, Thursday, May 25, there was an error in the software section on the dashboard display that triggered the recall on the VF8 model.

The United States Highway Administration Agency (NHTSA) noted that 999 units of VF8 City Edition vehicles were affected.

The error in the VinFast VF8 dashboard screen will become when driving or in a state of stopping, this cannot display information about the car so that it can cause an accident.

NHTSA noted that 735 of the 999 VinFast VF8 units are still in the hands of manufacturers and have not been handed over to customers or sent to dealers.

VinFast first learned of this problem was on April 27, when it was discovered that the dashboard of the car suddenly became empty which caused concern.

To address the issue, the manufacturer has updated its over-the-air (OTA) software system launched on May 25, hoping VinFast will send a notification letter on May 29.

The recall was VinFast's second time, after previously the manufacturer recalled the same model of 2,781 units due to front brake problems in Vietnam.
