ESG Is Considered To Have Really Entered Into The Company's Strategy

JAKARTA - Audit & Assurance Partner Binder Dijker Otte (BDO) Indonesia Bambang Budi Tresno stated that the concept of Environmental Social Governance (ESG) must really be included in the company's strategy.

"We have to really keep our earth sustainable. Therefore, now all companies are said to have to adopt the ESG, so that the company itself really supports what we all are thinking," Bambang said as quoted by Antara, Wednesday, August 3.

According to him, in the past the company only focused on producing material/profit profits. Currently, he stated that the company must think about environmental sustainability.

How about our planet? How about our people? Because we are talking about sustainability, we are talking about equality, gender, etc. Now this must all be in one unit. So if this (sustainability) cannot be achieved now, it only prioritizes this (profit/profit), this is a problem," he also said.

For him, even though the company is experiencing material benefits, it does not necessarily provide benefits in the future considering that profit can only be felt at this time, not for children and grandchildren in the future.

"I'm increasingly thinking about how we make profits, but it's still sustainable to the environment, and it all has to be echoed," said Bambang.

On this occasion, he stated that his party was carrying out a awareness process related to sustainability so as not to become a foreign term for the community.

I want to see that this is a concept where we learn not to be selfish, where today (for example) we can eat. The question is whether our children, our grandchildren, our great-grandchildren, or our generation (in the future), can still eat like us or not. Those are the real questions, whether the needs that exist today are what we can get later 10 years, 20 years, 30 years, 40 years can still be like us (or) no," concluded Bambang.
