JAKARTA - PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (Telkom) through one of its subsidiaries PT Telkom Data Ekosistem (NeutraDC) is increasingly focused on developing the data center business while continuing to apply ESG (Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance) principles through collaboration with energy companies, PT Medco Power Indonesia (Medco Power) in realizing a joint commitment towards Net Zero Emission in Indonesia.

The collaboration was marked by the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the two parties which was held during the conference of The 11th Indonesia New, Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation Conference & Exhibition (EBTKE ConEx) at ICE BSD City, Tangerang, Banten.

The signing of this memorandum of understanding is a form of collaboration to conduct a joint study on green energy power and as a provider of renewable energy for the needs of the NeutraDC Data Base which began in Batam.

President Director of Telkom Data Ecosystem (NeutraDC), Andreuw ThaF, said that since the beginning the construction of the Hyperscale Data Center building had been designed with the concept of decarbonization. So that this collaboration is in line with the NeutraDC principle in terms of the use of renewable energy.

"We are very enthusiastic about this collaboration. Net Zero Emission has always been a concern for our company. We also want to take a role in carrying out the target of Indonesia Net Zero Emission in 2060," said Andreuw, quoted Tuesday, August 1.

Lebih jauh dijelaskan, besar kapasitas penggunaan listrik untuk menjalankan operasional Hyperscale Data Center menjadi alasan NeutraDC untuk berkomitmen menerapkan decarbonisasi.

Previously, Medco Power had signed a memorandum of understanding for the formation of joint ventures in developing and building Telkom Indonesia's data center in Batam in June 2022. Cooperation in the form of a memorandum of understanding was the first step between the two parties to conduct discussions and joint evaluations in formulating the concept of a green data center.

Currently, the NeutraDC has a large capacity database (hyperscale data center) in Cikarang. This database has implemented renewable energy for data center purposes, in collaboration with Pertamina Power Indonesia (PPI).

Not only that, but the NeutraDC is also building a Hyperscale Data Center (HDC) in Batam on an area of 5 ha. With the plan to establish three international standard campuses with an IT load capacity of 51 MW, the Batam HDC will also implement renewable energy, environmentally friendly and adopt a multi-tier system, in order to maintain optimal data security.

In the future, the NeutraDC hopes to continue to apply renewable energy in all data centers owned to support better environmental sustainability.
