BALI - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) introduced the latest scheme to cut the conversion price, which originally ranged from Rp. 14 million to Rp. 17 million per motorbike.
Head of the Center for Electricity Survey and Testing, New, Renewable Energy, and Energy Conservation (BBSP KEBTKE), Senda Hurmuzan Kanam, revealed that this new scheme is believed to be able to reduce conversion costs to Rp. 8 million per motorbike.
"Only specifically in Bali, there is a new program from EV producers here. This is a new approach," said Senda in a discussion with the media in Denpasar, quoted Monday, July 31.
Senda explained that the new scheme is through battery swaps that are easier to find in Bali. Later, this scheme will also be expanded.
"The new conversion scheme is the conversion of battery swaps, namely consumer fuel motorcycles converted into electric motorcycles with swap batteries.
Senda further explained that the swap scheme provides less expenses for the public because the battery is owned by the swap battery provider and is not charged to consumers. In addition, the battery charging waiting time is very fast because the empty battery lives in a swap with a full battery at the Public Electric Vehicle Battery Exchange Station (SPBKLU).
"It is hoped that the availability of these two conversion schemes can provide the best choice for the community in converting their fuel to electricity," said Senda.
Regarding the cost of renting a battery, Senda admitted that the price charged was still affordable, namely only Rp. 10,000 per day or Rp. 300,000 per month. The swap process can also be carried out in places that are easily accessible to the public such as Alfamart or Circle K.

Present on the same occasion, Electric Wheel representative, Angga detailed, there are 22 swap battery operators in Bali and have collaborated with at least 100 Circle K in the Denpasar Badung, Gianyar and Tabanan (Sarbagita) areas.
"So if friends in Bali want to return to their hometowns to Buleleng, to Bangli, Tabanan is safe because there is no decrease in batteries, so the distance is unlimited," said Angga.
It is known that this year, the Government provided government assistance in the form of discounted conversion costs of Rp. 7 million/conversion motorcycle units distributed through a Convertible Workshop that has been appointed by the Director General of EBTKE and listed on the Digital Platform.
