JAKARTA - Commission IX of the House of Representatives encourages banks to strengthen customer security systems. Moreover, cases of fraud are increasingly rampant, especially customers from each bank.
"Currently, there are many fraudulent modes that use mobile banking applications through viruses or malware or other technical hacks. The banking security system must be strengthened," said Member of Commission XI DPR, Charles Meikyansyah, Tuesday, July 25.
Various fraud models are now rife and not a few people are becoming victims. Starting from fraud by utilizing leakage of customer personal data, scamming, to phishing scams with various methods of theft of information data that allow fraudsters to hack victims.
Most recently, the virtual world was shocked by a post about the existence of a viral warning pop up in the BCA mobile banking application, which if the notification is clicked, it is believed that the balance will be taken entirely by hackers. The news then caused an uproar among Indonesian netizens.
Selain itu juga beredar isu bahwa ada hacker yang mengaku telah mendapatkan dan menjual data nasabah kartu kredit salah satu bank swasta. Data yang didapat hacker itu disebut berupa alamat, email, hingga nomor telepon.
"With the right education, it is hoped that the public will not be easily consumed by the issue of banking hackers. Massive education and socialization are also important to target people who are still lacking in digital literacy," said Charles.
"The state must also be present to ensure cybersecurity for its citizens. Leakage of personal data is a very serious matter and must be a concern of the Government because it is very detrimental to the community," added the legislator from the East Java IV electoral district.
Not only that, Charles also emphasized the importance of the Government's transparency to the public in handling data leak cases. This step is expected to maintain public integrity and trust in cybersecurity systems in Indonesia.
"Transparency efforts are needed as a guarantee that the State is present in every people's problem. Cybersecurity in Indonesia must continue to be improved for the public interest," said Charles.
Furthermore, Charles asked law enforcement to facilitate the handling of banking fraud cases experienced by the public. He asked law enforcement and related parties not to see the small amount of funds lost from the victims, but rather dedication to serving the people.

"Because it could be a fund that might be considered small for someone, it becomes very big and meaningful for others. Law enforcers and internal banking parties must have empathy for victims of fraud," Charles said.
"Don't complicate the handling of cases that will make the victim even more burdened. Provide the best service and convenience for victims because to see the truth information from financial transactions is not difficult," he continued.
On the other hand, Charles reminded the public to be more sensitive to the security of personal data. In addition, the public is asked to be aware of fraudulent acts and potential hacking of banking data that easily enter devices with various techniques.
"The public must be more aware of the security of personal data. If there is a suspicious message entering the messaging application, email or so on, it is better not to open it. This is for personal safety. And be diligent in giving appeals to family, friends, and relatives, especially those with less digital literacy," Charles appealed.
