Digital Transactions Move Fast Supported By Bank Indonesia's Policy Participation

JAKARTA Bank Indonesia (BI) stated that the performance of digital economic and financial transactions remains strong supported by a safe, smooth and reliable payment system policy.

It was stated that the transaction value of Electronic Money (EU) in the second quarter of 2023 increased by 14.82 percent year on year (yoy) to reach IDR 111.35 trillion. Meanwhile, the value of digital banking transactions was recorded at IDR 13,827 trillion or grew by 11.6 percent yoy.

BI Governor Perry Warjiyo said the nominal QRIS transactions also continued to show growth of 104.64 percent yoy to reach Rp49.65 trillion, with 37.0 million users and 26.7 million merchants, most of whom were MSMEs.

In terms of rupiah currency management, the amount of Circulated Kartal Money (UYD) in the second quarter of 2023 increased by 8.74 percent (yoy) to reach Rp992.2 trillion.

"Bank Indonesia continues to ensure the availability of rupiah currency with quality maintained throughout the territory of the Republic of Indonesia," he said.

"In addition, we also continue institutional cooperation in the distribution of rupiah into 3T (outermost, frontier, remote) areas through mobile cash, cash, and Sovereign Rupiah Expedition activities," said BI Governor Perry Warjiyo.
