JAKARTA PT Sokoria Geothermal Indonesia (SGI) with the Sokoria Geothermal Power Plant (PLTP) project, Ende Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), has completed a trial of Unit Rated Capacity (URC) Unit 2 on July 13-15, 2023 with a total testing time of 72 hours with a capacity of 3 megawatts (MW).

With the success of this trial, SGI was prepared to add electricity supply to the NTT power plant.

President Director of PT SGI Dr Yan Tang said, with the completion of the URC test, PLTP Sokoria has officially met one of the operational requirements to obtain approval for an Operational Eligibility Certificate (SLO) to reach an important stage, namely the Commercial Operation Date (COD) Unit 2.

"PLTP Sokoria can achieve URC Unit II (3 MW net) and can maximize geothermal utilization in NTT. We hope to continue development in Sokoria until it reaches 30 MW. The technology owned by Kaishan allows us to utilize resources in the field," he said in a written statement, Tuesday, July 18.

He added that PT SGI hopes to continue to play a big role in taking part in supplying geothermal energy for the people in NTT.

This is in line with the stipulation of Flores Island as the Hot Island of the Earth, and evidence of KS Orka's commitment to supporting government programs in the energy transition to realize Net Zero Emission by 2060.

Just so you know, PT Sokoria Geothermal Indonesia is the legal holder of the right to manage and develop geothermal resources in the Sokoria-Ndona Timur Geothermal Working Area in Ende Regency, Flores Island, NTT.

SGI obtained a Geothermal Business License (IUP) in 2015, with an area covered by 42,570 HA and a potential geothermal resource of 30 MW.

In 2017, KS Orka Renewables Pte. Ltd. took over 95 percent of PT SGI's shares from its previous sponsors.

To date, PT SGI has reached a Commercial Operating Date (COD) for Unit I of 5 MW in 2022.
