Waskita Karya's Managing Director Becomes A Corruption Suspect, Minister Erick: Becomes A Warning For Other SOEs For Professional Work

JAKARTA - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir warned the president directors (directors) of other state-owned companies to use the alleged corruption case that dragged Waskita Karya's President Director as a warning to work professionally.

"This incident should also be a warning to other SOEs to really work professionally and transparently in accordance with the roadmap that has been set," Erick said in an official event, Sunday, April 30.

Erick said that his party would support law enforcement steps taken by the Attorney General's Office (Kejagung), including when determining the President Director of PT Waskita Karya (Persero) Destiawan Soewardjono as a suspect in the alleged corruption case in irregularities in the use of financing facilities from several banks.

"The Ministry of SOEs respects the applicable legal process," said Erick.

Previously, PT Waskita Karya (Persero) Tbk respected all investigation processes that were being carried out and committed to being cooperative with the Attorney General's Office.

"In connection with the legal case being carried out, the company's management respects all investigation processes that are being carried out and is committed to being cooperative and submitting all legal processes to the authorities," said Waskita Karya's SVP Corporate Secretary, Ermy Puspa Yunita, in an official statement in Jakarta, Saturday, April 29.

Ermy also emphasized that the ongoing legal cases did not have a significant impact on the company's activities, both operationally and financially.

"The company will continue to carry out all programs and strategies according to the target," he said.
