GameStop Will Shut Down Its Crypto Wallet Service November This Year!

JAKARTA - GameStop Wallet announced it will discontinue or shutdown its crypto wallet service, starting November 1 this year.

Berdasarkan sebuah pengumuman yang ditemukan beberapa pengguna di platform X, penghentian layanan ini dilakukan karena GameStop merasa adanya ketidakpastian di ruang kripto.

"Due to the uncertainty of crypto space regulations, GameStop has decided to remove the iOS and Chrome extension wallets from the market on November 1, 2023," the announcement read.

Prior to the date of termination of the service, GameStop advised users to access their wallet using the Secret Passphase on October 1 to restore the account, using another compatible wallet.

"Every customer who has access to their Secret Passphase has the ability to recover their account in any wallet that is compatible," the company added.

Currently, only MetaMask and WalletConnect are compatible wallet providers for the recovery of this account.

GameStop launched its crypto wallet, GameStop Wallet in May 2022

The launch of this wallet is expected to allow players to store, send, receive and use cryptocurrencies and non-flow tokens (NFTs) across decentralized applications without having to leave their web browsers.

Later in his December conference call last year, GameStop hinted that it plans to distance itself from the crypto space.

The company will eventually stop its crypto wallet service.
