Johan Budi Asks Police To Fire Members Of Polda Metro Jaya Persecution Of Drug Prisoners To Death
JAKARTA - Member of Commission III of the DPR Johan Budi asked police officers who carried out the persecution to cause the alleged perpetrator of a drug case with the initials DK (38) to be killed so that strict action can be taken.
"Sanctions must be firm, if found guilty, they must be punished and tried in accordance with the applicable law," Johan said in a written statement, Tuesday, July 1, confiscated by Antara.
The alleged perpetrator of the drug case, DK, was killed when he was questioned by a number of police officers from the Directorate of Drug Investigation of the Metro Jaya Police.
Johan also asked the police to investigate the motive for the alleged abuse, whether it included the death of the victim related to the violation of the investigation procedure.
Therefore, he reminded the police to always carry out the process of investigating cases without committing violations.
"Don't because of the lack of evidence in the investigation then use shortcuts by molesting to pursue the suspect's confession," he said.
Johan Budi appealed to the National Police to optimize public complaint services, especially complaint services related to violations of procedures in the investigation. For example, if there is intimidation in the form of physical or psychological violence like in this DK case.
"Including, in remote areas far from the center, it must be considered. If there are complaints, they must be responded to quickly," he said.
The member of the Legislation Body (Baleg) of the DPR admitted that he regretted the case that caused the loss of the life of a drug case prisoner by a member of the National Police.
"This incident is very unfortunate, the police station should be the safest place because it is guarded by the police 24 hours. How come someone died?", he said.

On the other hand, Johan Budi supports the efforts of the National Police to follow up on members of the Polda Metro Jaya who were involved in the persecution until they are threatened with dismissal because they are considered to have violated Article 5, Article 10, Article 11, and Article 12 of Perpol Number 7 of 2022 concerning the Professional Code of Ethics and the Police Code of Ethics Commission, as well as Government Regulation of the Republic of Indonesia Number 1 of 2023.
"Currently, National Police Chief Listyo Sigit Prabowo is very firm, does not compromise police officers who commit the slightest violation, especially until someone dies," he said.
He considered this effort as a form of police firmness as stated by the National Police Chief General Pol Listyo Sigit Prabowo during the momentum of the Bhayangkara Day of the 77th National Police to improve and improve his institution.
"Apologies conveyed by the National Police Chief to the public at the 77th Bhayangkara Anniversary must be followed up by giving strict punishments and actions to police officers who violate the law or commit criminal acts," said Johan Budi.
Previously, Polda Metro Jaya named seven members of the Directorate of Drug Investigation of Polda Metro Jaya as suspects on suspicion of maltreatment to death against the perpetrator of a drug case with the initials DK.
"Sudah ditetapkan tersangka dan ditahan," kata Direktur Reserse Kriminal Umum Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Pol Hengki Haryadi di Markas Polda Metro Jaya, Jumat 28 Juli.
Hengki explained that the seven members were AB, AJ, RP, FE, JA, EP and YP. Then, one person was returned to the Profession and Security Division (Propam) of the Polda Metro Jaya because no involvement in the crime was found, while another police officer was still declared a fugitive.
"There was an action from the unit that carried out an investigation related to the drug network and then committed violence, resulting in someone's death," he said.
The suspects are suspected of molesting the victim to death and the victim's body was found in a ravine in Bandung, West Java.
