PKS Asks Heru Budi To Continue The Anies Tradition Of Developing TOD Areas In Jakarta
JAKARTA - The PKS faction of the DKI Jakarta DPRD asked the Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono to continue developing transit-oriented areas or transit-oriented development (TOD) in the capital city.
The development of the TOD area has begun to be intensified since the leadership of Anies Baswedan during his tenure as Governor of DKI. One of the TODs that Anies has inaugurated is the Dukuh Atas area, Central Jakarta.
This was conveyed by a member of the PKS Faction M. Taufik Zoelkifli in a plenary meeting with the agenda of general views of the factions against the Raperda regarding the Accountability for the Implementation of the APBD for the 2022 Fiscal Year.
"The PKS faction asks that the development of transit-oriented development (TOD) be resumed and accelerated amid our efforts to continue to develop public transportation through the development and operation of various modes of public transportation," said Taufik at the DKI Jakarta DPRD building, Monday, July 24.
After changing leadership, Taufik views that TOD development will no longer be continued by the DKI Provincial Government. In fact, according to him, TOD has great prospects and potential in supporting economic development in the surrounding area by at the same time encouraging the use of mass public transportation to reduce congestion in Jakarta.
"The development of TOD is like walking on the spot, while the development of public transportation continues to be carried out, including by beautifying Transjakarta bus stops," explained Taufik.

Moreover, Taufik emphasized that this effort is a form of collaboration between the government and the private sector in encouraging the use of public transportation by the community, especially workers through integration with economic zones.
"The development of TOD is also an effort to maximize the use of land in cities such as Jakarta which is indeed limited and expensive for various uses, especially business and public transportation, so it is very effective for development in Jakarta," he continued.
It is known, in the DKI Jakarta Regional Development Plan (RPD) 2023-2026 which was compiled since 2022, Anies projects the main structure of urban space forming in Jakarta based on a mass public transportation network.
This is realized through the determination of service centers in transportation nodes that can be developed into TOD regional points.
The main characteristics of TOD development are the mixed-use area with high density, there are interchange facilities as integrated area centers with housing, adequate green spaces, and various other elements that prioritize spatial planning and transportation integration.
In the RPD 2023-2026 document, Anies said the points planned to be developed as TOD areas include the HI Roundabout Area, Tanah Abang, Jakarta International Stadium, and other potential areas.
