Starting Production Period, BMW I5 Is Targeted To Be Sent By The End Of 2023

JAKARTA - After launching at the end of May, BMW i5 officially began production with a target that the first unit could be delivered by the end of this year.

i5 is one of BMW's electrification models after previously presenting i3, i4, i7, and iX.

Quoted from InsideEVs, Sunday, July 23, BMW i5 will be produced at a BMW Group factory in Digolfing, which is the largest BMW factory in Europe.

The i5 model features a classic three-box design with a long hood and a kink Hofmeister accent that gives a modern touch. BMW remains loyal to its signature kidney grille, although its size is not as big as it is on i4 or M4.

The back has an elegant and bumper flat LED light that gives an aggressive impression. The overall design of this sedan has similarities to the tough i7.

BMW i5 features a digital dashboard with a 12.3-inch information display housed behind the steering wheel, as well as a 14.9-inch control display that is well integrated.

The installed Curved Display touch screen uses the BMW OS 8.5 operating system, equipped with the latest graphics and Quick Select which facilitates access to information.

Another interesting feature is the driver's adjoint feature embedded in BMW i5. This ADAS system allows cars to drive without being controlled by drivers on toll roads at a speed of 136 km/hour.

BMW i5 comes in two variants, namely i5 eDrive40 and i5 M60.

The i5 eDrive40 variant is capable of generating a power of 335 dk and a torque of 400 Nm. When Sport Boost or Launch Control is activated, the torque can increase to 429 Nm. In terms of speed, i5 eDrive40 can reach 0 to 100 km/hour in 5.7 seconds with a peak speed of 193 km/hour.

While the highest variant, namely i5 M60, is able to produce 590 dk of power and 743 Nm of peak torque from double electric motors. The torque can even be increased to 819 Nm by activating M Sport Boost or M Launch Control.

The type i5 M60 only takes 3.7 seconds to reach 0 to 100 km/h, with the highest speed reaching 230 km/hour.

These two variants are equipped with a high-voltage battery with a capacity of 84.3 kWh, allowing BMW i5 eDrive40 to cover a distance of up to 474 km with one charge. Meanwhile, when the i5 M60 xDrive variant battery is fully charged, the car can cover a distance of up to 411 km.

This electric sedan is priced starting at 66,800 US dollars or around Rp. 1 billion for the i5 eDrive40 variant. Meanwhile, for the highest version, the BMW i5 M60 is valued at around 84,100 US dollars or around Rp. 1.2 billion.
