Ministry Of Law And Human Rights Asks Immigration To Be More Responsive In Supervising Foreigners In Bali
JAKARTA - Director General of Immigration at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights Silmy Karim asked the Directorate General of Immigration to be more responsive in monitoring foreigners in Bali following a number of immigration violations.
"We must continue to be responsive to what is happening in the community, both complaints submitted officially and viral on social media," he said on the sidelines of the Immigration Festival (Imifest) in Jakarta, Tuesday, quoted by Antara.
Intensive cooperation with local governments and law enforcement is also needed to make foreigners obey and respect cultural values, especially in Bali.
He said the Immigration Office had an important role in detecting and taking action against immigration violations. In addition, immigration is also a doorstop to prevent potential crimes, including terrorism, from entering Indonesia.
For this reason, he hopes that the Immigration Festival will become a forum for socializing collaborative immigration policies and require networks.
Meanwhile, the Bali Ministry of Law and Human Rights Regional Office in addition to intensifying supervision of foreigners has also made cards containing information on prohibitions and obligations that must be obeyed by foreigners.
According to office records, the Bali Immigration Office deported 178 foreigners from various countries from January to July 11, 2023.
