Methamphetamine Dealers In Medan Sued 8 Years In Prison

The Public Prosecutor (JPU) of the North Sumatra High Prosecutor's Office has charged the defendant M Maisa Jenar alias Isa with eight years in prison in a case of methamphetamine weighing 4.75 grams.

"Asking the panel of judges to impose a sentence of eight years, a fine of one billion subsidiary to six months in prison," said Public Prosecutor Sri Delyanti at the Medan District Court as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, July 12.

He said the two defendants violated Article 114 Paragraph (1) of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics.

Namely, offering to sell, sell, buy, accept, become an intermediary in buying and selling, exchanging, or handing over class I narcotics in the form of non-parks in the form of two packs of methamphetamine weighing 4.75 grams.

"The aggravating thing is that the defendant does not support the government's program in eradicating drugs and destroying the nation's generation," said Sri Delyanti.

Meanwhile, Sri Delyanti said that mitigating the defendant was polite in the trial and regretted his actions.

After listening to the memorandum of demand from the prosecutor, Chief Justice Pinta Uli Br Tarigan postponed the trial on July 18 with the agenda of the verdict.

In the indictment, Public Prosecutor Sri Delyanti explained that on April 28, 2023, officers from the North Sumatra Police Narcotics Directorate received information from the public that Jalan Setia Budi, Medan Selayang, had a narcotics dealer of methamphetamine.

The police saw the characteristics according to information from the public at a coffee shop with their friends. The police then arrested the defendant who received evidence of narcotics of the type of crystal methamphetamine with a net weight of 4.75 grams, and then secured it to the police station.
