Elon Musk Expects Level 4 And 5 Autonomous Driver Systems To Come At The End Of 2023, What's The Technology Like?

JAKARTA - Tesla, a well-known electric vehicle manufacturer from the US, continues to lead the industry by presenting innovative models equipped with the most advanced features. One of the features of concern is the autonomous driving system.

In an announcement, Tesla CEO Elon Musk revealed that Tesla plans to launch Full Self Driving (FSD) systems with levels 4 and 5 by the end of this year. Musk explained that Tesla will use a more sophisticated artificial intelligence (AI) approach than the previous level.

"Currently, we are very close to reaching the Full Self Driving level without human supervision. This is just my estimate, but I think we will achieve it, perhaps at level four or five, towards the end of this year," Musk said as reported by Carscoops, Saturday, July 8.

While this is still speculation, Tesla's plans to bring a more advanced autonomous driving system of levels 4 and 5 are a big aspiration. This system will allow Tesla drivers to travel without human supervision, making driving experience easier and more comfortable.

However, even if this system can deal with various situations, the drivers remain in control and can take over the wheel whenever they want it.

If Tesla actually manages to launch FSD levels 4 and 5, it will surpass the autonomous driving system offered by other manufacturers, including Mercedes-Benz. Recently, Mercedes-Benz developed a Drive Pilot feature with level 3 SAE. This feature has met the standards for use in the United States, which is also a market for Tesla.

Mercedes-Benz focuses on security in developing its autonomous driving system, by providing high technology on the Drive Pilot feature. This feature uses a surround sensor from the Mercedes-Benz Driver Assistance Package and is equipped with an additional sensor needed to provide a secure automatic driving experience.
