Unrepulsive, Panji Gumilang Admits His Controversial Statement

JAKARTA - The head of the Al Zaytun Islamic Boarding School, Panji Gumilang, is said to have acknowledged all his statements circulating in the form of videos.

This confession was conveyed by Panji Gumilang during an examination as a reported case in the alleged blasphemy case at Bareskrim Polri.

"The person concerned answered all of them and admitted that what was in the video was true was a statement and it was true what was done by the person concerned," said Director of General Crimes at Bareskrim Polri Brigadier General Djuhandhani Rahardjo to reporters, Monday, July 3.

Meanwhile, from one of the videos circulating on social media, Panji Gumilang said that the Al-Quran was a essay by the Prophet Muhammad.

Djuhandhani also said that during the examination process, Panji Gumilang received 26 questions. The material is about the history of Al Zaytun Islamic Boarding Schools to the organizational structure of the foundation that houses it.

"26 questions! answered by the person concerned, as for the material for questions regarding the history of Al Zaytun, then the foundation, organizational structure," said Djuhandani.

After Panji Gumilang was asked for information or clarification, investigators immediately conducted a case title. As a result, the alleged blasphemy case was upgraded to the investigation stage.

"After the investigation, investigators have carried out a case title. The conclusion of the case title is that this case from investigation is raised to an investigation," said Djuhandani.

Panji Gumilang was previously reported by two different parties regarding the alleged blasphemy. The two reports were filed by the Central Leadership Council of the Pancasila Defenders Advocate Forum (DPP FAPP) against Panji Gumilang, on Friday, June 23, and Ken Setiawan NICC Center, Tuesday, June 27.

In the report submitted by the FAPP DPP, Panji Gumilang was also suspected of circulating religious knowledge that deviated from Islamic teachings.
