Prosecutor: Johnny G Plate Asks For Deposit From The Managing Director Of IDR 500 Million Per Month To Pay For Charity In NTT

JAKARTA - Former Minister of Communication and Information (Kominfo), Johnny G. Plate, was charged with harassing the President Director of Bakti Kominfo, Anang Achmad Latief, in the amount of Rp. 500 million per month for almost two years. The total money he received reached Rp. 10 billion.

"Asking Anang Achmad Latief for Rp. 500 million per month, which was realized from March 2021 to October 2022," said the prosecutor at the trial at the Central Jakarta District Court, Tuesday, June 27.

The deposits received by Johnny G. Plate came from the consortium company providing job services for the provision of 4G BTS Infrastructure and Supporting Infrastructure Packages 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5.

Anang is the President Director of BAKTI as well as the Budget User Authority (KPA). BAKTI was formed by the Ministry of Communication and Information to lead development projects in remote areas.

Not only deposits per month, but Johnny also asked Anang to send some money for his benefit. Apparently, the money was used as charity.

"For flood victims in East Flores, Rp. 200 million, to the GMIT Church in NTT Rp. 250 million, to the Arnoldus Catholic Education Foundation Rp. 500 million, and to the Diocese Dioses Kupang Rp. 1 billion," said the prosecutor.

Meanwhile, overall Johnny G. Plate was charged with receiving Rp17.8 billion. Not only money, the former Minister of Communication and Information also received several facilities from other parties, namely, from the President Director of PT Mora Telematika Indonesia Galumbang Menak Simanjuntak worth Rp420 million in the form of payments for playing golf six times at Suvarna Halim Perdana Kusuma, Senayan Golf, Pondok Indah Golf, BSD, PIK II, and Bali Pecatu before the G20 Event

Then, the facilities from Jemy Sutjiawan in the form of hotel payments with the team during an overseas official trip to Barcelona in Spain amounting to Rp452 million.

Johnny G. Plate received facilities from Irwan Hermawan in the form of hotel payments with the team during a foreign official trip to Paris amounting to Rp453 million, London Rp167 million, and America Rp404 million.

"The defendant Johnny Gerard Plate (enriched himself) in the amount of Rp. 17,848,308,000," said the prosecutor.
