Busyro Muqoddas Reminds KPK To Maintain Independence: Don't Misuse It For Political Interests
PADANG - Academics and legal practitioners as well as Chairman of PP Muhammadiyah for Law, Busyro Muqoddas, asked law enforcement agencies in the country, including the KPK, to maintain independence and professionalness in carrying out their duties.
"You have to be objective and don't misuse it for political or business interests for a moment," said Busyro Muqoddas in Padang as reported by ANTARA, Friday, June 23.
This was conveyed by the former Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) in response to Denny Indrayana's statement stating that the KPK would name Anies Baswedan as a suspect in the Formula E case.
In addition to legal institutions such as the KPK, prosecutors, and the police, Busyro also reminded the government not to intervene in law enforcement agencies.
According to the head of the inaugural Judicial Commission, if there are parties, especially if the government is determined to intervene in law enforcement agencies, then just destroy the nature of the legal state itself.
"Legal countries must be based on democracy, and democracy is impossible without honesty," he stressed.
Busyro is worried that if the anti-corruption agency is used as a political tool, especially regarding the 2024 general election (election), it will damage the legal order.

Personally, Busyro stated that he had also been watching the KPK for a long time, which seemed to be a political tool for the benefit of certain groups. The law enforcement agency is reminded to be upright without any intervention from any party.
Busyro gave an example of several large cases that were not dealt with firmly by the KPK.
"Some major cases were not developed. For example, Meikarta cases to reclamation in North Jakarta," he explained.
In addition, Busyro also suspects that the extension of the term of office of the KPK leadership cannot be separated from the political element. He believes in the judicial review submitted by Nurul Ghufron after obtaining approval from others.
