Pamtas Task Force Finds Cannabis Field In Boven Digoel, South Papua
JAYAPURA - The Joint Team of the Indonesian Pamtas Task Force-PNG Infantry Battalion 725/Woroagi and Merauke Customs found a marijuana field covering an area of approximately 200 square meters in the forest area kilometer 56, Sesnuk District, Boven Digoel Regency, South Papua.
The Commander of the Battalion 725/Woroagi Task Force (Dansatgas) Lt. Col. Inf. Syafruddin Mutasis said the discovery of the marijuana field was discovered when the joint team carried out patrols.
"On Wednesday (14/6) we found the marijuana field while patrolling the Merauke border", he said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, June 21.
According to Syafruddin, the discovery was based on the results of the development of the arrest of two marijuana carriers by Post KM 53 in April 2023.
"So with this information, we formed a joint team with Merauke Customs and succeeded in finding a marijuana field of approximately 200 square meters and 116 cannabis trees," he said.

Until now it is not known for sure who the owner of the marijuana is, then his party will intensely coordinate with related parties, in this case, Merauke Customs and Excise and the Boven Digoel Police for follow-up according to the law.
"We are still conducting investigations regarding the discovery of the cannabis fields and trees, so that in the future there will also be cooperation from the community so that this is a concern for all," he said.
