Bengkalis Police Arrest 3 Students Involved In Drug Trafficking

The Bengkalis Police Narcotics Unit (Satnarkoba), Riau arrested as many as nine people suspected of being dealers, couriers and drug users of methamphetamine. Three of them are students in Bengkalis.

Bengkalis Police Chief AKBP Setyo Bimo Anggoro through the Head of Narcotics Unit AKP Tony Armando confirmed the arrest. The nine suspects were arrested in different places.

"The nine suspects were arrested in different places and managed to secure a number of evidences on Saturday (3/6) ago," Tony said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, June 12.

The nine suspects were EL (18), MR (24), MH (25), SM (22), AV (20), AR (34), SA (35), AY (35) and RH (27), besides that they confiscated 1 plastic package containing 0.13 grams of methamphetamine, two methamphetamine suction devices, a Pirek glass, cash, 2 plastic packages containing 0.86 grams of methamphetamine, scissors and several cellphones.

"This arrest started from public information that in the Bantan Air Village area, narcotics transactions often occur," he said.

The arrests began with the arrest of EL and the confession of the illicit goods obtained from SM in a house along with two other suspects.

"We continue to develop and successfully arrest other suspects and money amounting to Rp1,050,000 which is suspected to be the proceeds from the sale of these illicit goods," said Tony.

The results of the urine tests of the nine positive suspects contained methamphetamine. As a result of their actions, the suspects will be charged with Article 114 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 112 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 132 of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics.
