Lawyer Asal Pangkep Arrested For Deceiving Rice Traders Of Up To Almost Half A Billion
The South Sulawesi (Sulsel) Police Team arrested a lawyer with the initials MS (32) from Pangkajene Islands Regency (Pangkep) who was suspected of committing fraud against rice traders.
"The suspect was arrested on Jalan Gunung Bawakaraeng, Ujung Pandang District, Makassar. He is currently in legal proceedings," said Head of the Sat Resmob Unit of the South Sulawesi Regional Police, Kompol Dharma Negara, as reported by ANTARA, Friday, June 9.
The arrest of the suspect was based on the Police Report number LP/130/II/2022/SPKT Polda Sulsel dated February 7, 2022. This case has been running for more than a year, until finally the team found the existence of the person concerned and secured it along with the evidence.
From the information from the reporter Mulyadi, the rice trader who was harmed, he had been deceived by the mode of buying his rice in large quantities.
The reported party has even taken 700 thousand kilograms of rice at a price of Rp7,500 per kilogram and plans to be paid no later than August 1, 2021. After taking the rice, the suspect has not yet submitted the payment.
"After taking the rice, the suspect could no longer be contacted. The victim objected because he suffered a loss of around Rp474.4 million, then reported the fraud incident to the police for further investigation," said Kompol Dharma.

The alleged perpetrator after being interrogated admitted and is currently in the process of being investigated at Sub-Directorate 4 of the General Criminal Investigation Directorate of the South Sulawesi Police to account for his actions.
The issue is subject to criminal acts of fraud and embezzlement based on Article 378 of the Criminal Code and or Article 372 of the Criminal Code with the threat of imprisonment for a maximum of four years.
