Real Madrid Consider 'Buang' Liverpool Players
JAKARTA - Spanish giants Real Madrid are considering the option to recruit Roberto Firmino as an additional team strength next season. Madrid reacted after seeing the situation of the players who had separated from Liverpool.
In fact, Firmino's contract with the Reds will end on June 30. Although there is still one month left but the Brazilian versatile player has already made a farewell to the team.
Reporting from the Daily Mail on Tuesday, May 30, the news of Madrid's interest has reached Firmino's ears and the player will study it first. The Brazilian forward wanted to see Madrid's plan before making a final decision.
If later Firmino decides to accept Madrid's proposal, he is expected to be a substitute. The 31-year-old will be the captain of the Los Merengues team, Karim Benzema.
This is possible because Benzema is expected to stay at the Santiago Bernabeu even though his contract will also expire on June 30.
Firmino himself has been in Liverpool's uniform for eight seasons. Throughout this together, he successfully presented the English Champions League and Premier League titles for the team. In the 2022/2023 season, Firmino's playing opportunity was quite minimal due to the presence of new players such as Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo.
The former Hoffenheim has only appeared 25 times in the Premier League and has only started 13 times. From his appearance, Firmino was able to score 11 goals.
Firmino's departure also led him to follow in Sadio Mane's footsteps, who had already left for Bayern Munich last season.
