After Focus On SUV, Mahindra Continues To Develop The Latest Pickup Car

JAKARTA - A vehicle manufacturer from India, Mahindra, is developing a new double cabin pickup car that will be based on a "ladder-frame" chassis to accommodate its heavy weight.

Reporting from Drive, Monday, May 29, some time ago the model was being tested with a part of the car disguised in Chennai, India. The car is like the Scorpio SUV.

Velusamy's 'Velu', as Velusamy's President-Head Automotive Product Development Mahindra, said that his party was focused on developing the model but admitted that its development took time.

"We have an idea of what to do. We are developing it. We have just launched Scorpio N and we are stabilizing the product and stabilizing launches in various markets," Velu said.

Because it is still in the development stage, the specifications regarding the pickup are still a question mark. However, it seems that this model will share the latest machines with Scorpio.

With a turbo 2.2 liter diesel engine, this engine can generate 173 dk of power and 400 Nm of torque equipped with a four-wheel drive system (4WD) with a six-speed transmission.

Mahindra Automotive Regional Head, Joydeep Moitra, said that although the manufacturer is currently more focused on developing the SUV, Mahindra will also present the Scorpio-based pickup in the future.

"We have to make sure we focus on the SUV first, then we turn to pickup because we have too much to study at this time," said Moitra.

Mahindra itself is a large company with various business fields. The company, based in Mumbai, India, was founded in 1945 in Ludhiana by two brothers, KC Mahindra and JC Mahindra.
