Still Proportional Open, KPU Waits For New Decision Of The 2024 Election System From The Constitutional Court
Chairman of the General Election Commission (KPU) Hasyim Asy'ari emphasized that the KPU still uses the applicable system, namely proportional open while waiting for the latest decision of the Constitutional Court (MK).
"Until now, the KPU is monitoring what is happening in the development of the mass media, but has it broken yet? The KPU has read out the Constitutional Court's decision, because that's where we know that's the truth," said Hasyim at the Indonesian Legislative Administrative Verification event, quoted by ANTARA, Monday, May 29.
This follows the statement of former Deputy Minister of Law and Human Rights (Wamenkumham) Denny Indrayana claiming that he obtained information about the Constitutional Court's decision regarding the legislative election system which will return to a closed proportional system.
Even so, Hasyim was reluctant to comment on the information. He invited the media crew to confirm this directly to Denny Indrayana or the Constitutional Court.
"I think the person concerned who stated it in public, so that it is fair, so that it is clear, friends can ask the person who made the statement," he said.
Until now, the KPU will still refer to an open proportional system in compiling ballots and other logistics for the 2024 General Election.
Previously, the Constitutional Court had received a request for a judicial review of Article 168 paragraph (2) of the Election Law related to an open proportional system registered with case registration number 114/PUU-XX/2022 on November 14, 2022.
