The Ministry Of PUPR Said That The Labuan Bajo DPSP Needs To Continue To Be Developed
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) said that the Labuan Bajo Super Priority Tourism Destination (DPSP), West Manggarai, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), needs to be equipped and developed with various infrastructures in the future.
"The Labuan Bajo area needs to continue to be equipped and developed with various infrastructure and other facilities. The existence of a new Labuan Bajo road to Golo Mori along 25 km, with a beautiful landscape along the road will open up many opportunities for new tourist attractions," said PUPR Ministry Spokesperson Endra S. Atmawidjaja in a written statement, Friday, May 19.
Endra said that his party had provided full support in organizing the 42nd ASEAN Summit on 9-11 May 2023 ago in Labuan Bajo, NTT, through the provision of various infrastructures. This has changed the face and raised Labuan Bajo status.
"The decision of the President to choose Labuan Bajo as the host of an international scale event is a breakthrough. The infrastructure that was built was not solely to succeed in the implementation of the 42nd ASEAN Summit, but the President hoped that in the future, Labuan Bajo could become Indonesia's new tourist destination for domestic and foreign tourists," he said.
"Many cities in the world are marketed through international events," added Endra.
Now, Labuan Bajo has a much-changing infrastructure and face. A leap from a small fishing village to host the ASEAN Summit event.

In its development, Labuan Bajo must be able to maintain local identity. Development must pay attention to local wisdom as a prerequisite, so that Labuan Bajo remains unique, different from other tourist attractions in the world.
"Labuan Bajo can be a model for developing tourist destinations elsewhere, namely by fixing public spaces first, such asMINA, pedestrians, roads, markets, homestays, and others for various events (events)," concluded Endra.
