BMKG Records 32 Earthquakes In The Sunda Strait To Evening
JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) as of this evening recorded 32 earthquakes in the Sunda Strait region after the first earthquake with a magnitude of 5.4 which occurred at 11.24 WIB.
"As of 18.13 WIB, the results of BMKG monitoring showed that there were 32 earthquake activity with the largest magnitude of 5.1 and the smallest of 2.3," said Head of the BMKGDaryono Earthquake and Tsunami Center, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, May 10.
He said the earthquake that occurred in the Sunda Strait on Wednesday was a shallow earthquake caused by active fault activity.
According to Daryono, the earthquake was not a giant earthquake, a very large earthquake that occurred in the subduction zone.
"So that coastal communities do not need to worry or worry and continue to carry out their activities as usual," he said.
The results of the analysis of the source mechanism show that the earthquake that occurred in the Sunda Strait has a sliding mechanism.

Daryono appealed to residents to avoid buildings that were cracked or damaged by the earthquake and to ensure that residential buildings were not damaged which could endanger the stability of the building before returning to their homes.
