Developed For Two Years, This Hydrogen Powered Crossover Will Appear In Goodwood

JAKARTA - British automotive company Ineos Automotive will feature the Grenadier 4x4 FCEV (Fuel Cell Vehicle) crossover powered by hydrogen fuel at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

"To prove this technology is capable, we built a hydrogen fuel cell demonstration car that will be launched at the Goodwood Festival of Speed summer," said Lynn Calder, CEO of Ineos quoted from Autosport, Tuesday, May 8.

The cadre also said that Ineos is a producer of 400,000 tons of hydrogen per year. And in addition to the development of green hydrogen, Ineos strives for it to be used in powertrain in the future.

With the allowing for sales of combustion engine cars using e-fuels by 2035, it also further encourages Ineos to develop alternative fuels.

"I think combustion engines will continue, whether in Europe with low-carbon fuel, alternative fuel, or anything around the world that doesn't have the option or infrastructure to build batteries," concluded the cadre.

The development of Grenadier FCEV itself was carried out with British engineering company AVL since the end of 2021, then last year an on-road and off-road field testing was carried out.

Previously, in 2020, Ineos Automotive also signed a memorandum of understanding with Hyundai, so Grenadier was equipped with a powertrain from the South Korean manufacturer.

The Goodwood Festival of Speed 2023 will be held from July 13 to July 16 at Goodwood House, West Sussex, England.
