City Puts 1.000 Goals in All Competitions Under Guardiola in Records
JAKARTA - Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola broke the record as a Premier League or Premier League coach who was able to lead his team to score 1.000 goals in all competitions in the shortest time.
The Citizens' victory over West Ham 3-0 at the Etihad Stadium, Thursday, May 4, early morning Western Indonesian Time (WIB), ensured the achievement of this record goal tally during Guardiola's coaching era with Manchester City.
Citing the club's official website, Guardiola reached a record of 1.000 goals in just 404 matches with an average of 2.47 goals per match.
This impressive record beats the record previously held by legendary Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger that is, from 554 matches, as reported by ANTARA. Meanwhile, iconic Manchester United coach Sir Alex Ferguson needed 601 matches to record his 1000th goal.
The Spaniard only needed seven seasons to reach this record. Under Guardiola, The Citizens recorded 652 goals in the Premier League, 169 goals in the Champions League, 103 goals in the FA Cup, 66 goals in the English League Cup, six goals in Champions League Qualification, and four goals in the Community Shield.
