Chris Eubank Jr Activates 'Revenge' Clause
JAKARTA - Chris Eubank Jr. will get the chance to avenge his defeat to Liam Smith. The date for their rematch has already been announced.
The two boxers will face each other again in the ring on June 17 at the AO Arena in Manchester. This is an opportunity for Eubank Jr. to prove himself that defeat in the previous game was just a coincidence.
Smith won by TKO over Eubank Jr in the fourth round when he fought last January. In fact, Eubank Jr. is the favorite for the early middleweight fight.
Now he has reactivated the rematch clause that was contained in the previous contract.
The 33-year-old player made his intentions clear by sending an implied message to his potential opponent.
"This morning I activated a rematch clause through my lawyer & sent to my promoter Wasserman. Happy Valentine's Day Liam Smith," said Eubank Jr, as quoted by The Sun.
The second fight will be broadcast on Sky Sports Box Office with Brit Savannah Marshall vs Franchon Crews-Dezurn as the main party supporters.
Eubank Jr and Smith's relationship has been damaged by bad comments made to one another. In fact, the British Boxing Board of Trustees fined both of them for their comments.
Once they finally faced each other in the ring, Beefy, nicknamed Smith, managed to blow Eubank Jr. in the fourth round. It was the former IBO title holder's first loss since 2018.
