Regarding The Allegation Of Extortion Against Helmut, Formappi: Commission III Of The DPR Can Call The Deputy Minister Of Law And Human Rights
JAKARTA - Researcher of the Indonesian Parliamentary Concerned Community Forum (Formappi) Lucius Karus asked the public to oversee the Indonesia Police Watch (IPW) report related to extortion allegedly carried out by Deputy Minister of Law and Human Rights Edward Oemar Sharif Hiariej to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).
"In principle, we have to oversee the process carried out by the KPK, I think it is important to do that," Lucius told reporters, Wednesday, March 29.
Lucius said that the DPR could question the matter if Commission III during a meeting with the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (HAM).
"I think if there is an agenda for a working meeting between Commission III and the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, it could be a momentum for Commission III to ask for clarification on the emergence of many allegations against the Deputy Minister of Law and Human Rights," he said.
According to him, if IPW as the reporter has strong enough evidence to lead to elements of alleged extortion, then it is just a matter of waiting for the next process from the KPK whether the report is proven or not.
Lucius said that if the practice of corruption, the Crime of Money Laundering (TPPU) to gratification is a chronic disease carried out by public officials.
"Why are we waiting for the legal process, because I think gratification, corruption, money laundering are infectious' which we can hardly argue so far. Because it is still a disease that occurs to our bureaucrats. Both in the government, legislature, judiciary, Attorney General's Office and also in court," he said.

So according to him, every thing that arises related to allegations of corruption, gratification to money laundering is something that must be followed up immediately.
"Therefore, I think if there are any allegations that arise related to gratification, corruption, money laundering and so on, it must be followed up," he continued.
Previously, IPW had reported to the KPK the alleged extortion committed by the Deputy Minister of Law and Human Rights against mining entrepreneur Helmut Hermawan. Helmut is currently still being held at the South Sulawesi Police detention center after his request for treatment was rejected by the Dirkrimsus Polda Sulsel, Kombes Helmi Kwarta Kusuma Putra.
